The Census is a short survey to determine basic information about all people living in the United States.
  • The Census is a survey the U. S. government completes every 10 years to determine how government resources are used and how many political representatives each region will be assigned. It takes only about ten minutes to complete the survey.
  • There is only one survey per household. If several families live in one apartment and/or share an address, they are considered one household and should fill out one survey together.
Census responses are completely confidential.
  • Your personal survey responses will not be shared with your landlord, employer, immigration officials, or other government officials. By law, any government agency requesting personal information would have to wait 72 years to get it.
All immigrants and families should fill out the Census.
  • The Census is designed to count everyone living in the Unite States, regardless of immigration status. All people living in the U.S. are expected to fill out the survey.
  • It’s easier to fill out the survey immediately. As of May 20th, you may receive up to six visits from Census workers if your household has not filled out a survey.

  • Census statistics are used to determine how much money will go to communities for schools, hospitals, health clinics and jobs.
  • In the past, immigrants have often been undercounted. In 2000, millions of people were not counted, mainly minorities and low-income families, resulting in millions of fewer government resources to our communities.
  • Getting our communities counted will demonstrate the size and strength of immigrant families and will give us a bigger voice!
There is help to fill out the survey!
  • Many local community organizations are acting as Question Assistance Centers, and there are written guides on how to fill out the survey in over 100 languages.
